What do you get from
the Service?
The deliverable of the QAI Benchmarking service is a report
detailing the following:
- Executive summary
listing recommended action items for management
to initiate / further software process improvement within
the organization.
It
also provides the top management with one measure (called
process productivity index, PI) which is a composite of many
SEISM core measures like size, effort, schedule
as well as soft factors like technology/tool familiarity,
management influence and so on. PI becomes a single measure
for top management to keep track of software process improvement.
An
increase of Productivity Index, PI by one point leads to 10%
reduction in schedule and 30% reduction in effort.
For
organizations that submit multiple projects, the analysis
also looks at the possibility of drawing organization specific
trend lines that can serve as a future reference database
for other projects. This, however, depends on the value of
the coefficient of correlation from the curve fitting exercise.
