PMI India relationship office under the name of PMI Organization Centre India Pvt. Ltd., was established early this year in Mumbai. This is the second PMI office in India after the establishment of the service centre in Gurgaon. The service centre has been established to respond to the needs of the members in India while the relationship office has the charter of advocacy & outreach of Project Management in India. Activities that will be undertaken by the relationship office will include industry specific round table, seminars, PM India congress. The PMI Scheduling Professional Research found that within the PM community 68% agreed to the fact that scheduling is one of the key aspects of a successful Project Management. The credential was launched in March 2008. The certification has been developed with SME’s participating from across the world. To appear for the credential, the candidate needs to be a graduate, have 3 to 5 years of scheduling experience and 30 contact hours of classes. The exam is for 3.5 hours and has 170 questions. To maintain the credential the holder must earn 30 PDU’s in the area of scheduling in the 3 year period. From an organization perspective the benefits of a certified professional are having consistent standards of performance, help in selection process and better project management practices. From an individual’s perspective, it increases employability, offers opportunity for career development and provides oppertunity for role differentiation. |
