Tools from open
source world have started to find a permanent place
in many of the tester's toolkit. Open source provides
tools ranging from testing the functionality aspect
of a web application to specifically test the security
aspect of software.
Open source testing tools have also contributed towards
performing non-functional testing like measuring performance
etc, which otherwise is a costly affair. Thus the
open source testing tools not only provides flexibility
and power, they are also cost effective.
This tutorial aims to introduce the audience to the
possibility of using tools from open source
world for different needs of software testing.
Moreover, users can contribute back to those
project in terms of updates to tools, suggesting improvements
and reporting bugs etc.
This marriage of commercial world and open source
world would result in Win-Win situation for both Open
Source projects and the testing community.
